Manuela Mischke Reeds, MA, MFT
Manuela Mischke-Reeds, MA, MFT, is a Somatic Psychotherapist and an international teacher of Somatic Psychology, Dharma Teacher and author. She co-directs the Hakomi Institute of California and is the Senior Faculty in Hakomi Australia. Manuela teaches regularly in the US, Europe, and Australia and Israel. She lectures, consults and trains professionals in Hakomi, Somatic Trauma Therapy, Somatic Meditation, Attachment and Movement therapy. She maintains a private psychotherapy practice in Menlo Park, CA working with a wide spectrum of clients from Trauma survivors, First responders to transpersonal and personal growth. She has consulted with business leaders how to incorporate somatic wisdom and stress relief into the work culture of silicon valley.
Her integrative teaching brings together various fields of Psychology, Buddhism, Somatic Wisdom from many traditions.
Manuela’s view on healing trauma and creating thriving life is to root the individual in the collective wisdom of the body. Understanding ones own body is technology that can be accessed and utilized in daily life enhancing personal growth and performance.
Manuela’s therapeutic knowledge for the past 20 + has extended to many cultures, ranges of trauma and life span issues. She has treated survivors of political torture, sexual abuse victims, first responders, kidnap victims, developmental trauma and couples.
Manuela frequently lectures at conferences and Universities and has been faculty for the past 15 years at JFK University, Sofia University, and The California Institute of Integral Studies in California.
She holds an MA in Somatic Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies, a BA in Dance Therapy from the Naropa University, and a BA in Psychology from the University of Hamburg. In addition she has trained in various methods of working with trauma, counseled survivors of political oppression and torture and victims of trauma. She is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (Dr. Peter Levine) and a graduate Fellow at the Napa Infant Mental Health Fellowship Program (Dr. Ed Tronick). She is a graduate of the Child Trauma Institute of San Francisco (Dr. Alicia Lieberman). Manuela is an authorized Continuum Movement teacher and has extensive training in the field of Expressive and Movement Therapies.
